My Students

I have the honor of teaching just over 140 students who are rekindling their love of reading. These amazing young adults come from different backgrounds and life experiences, and our goal is to form a life-long relationship with each other through the shared experience of reading.

Students need a wide range of texts to reflect their own lives as well as the lives of those around them.

Our classes are learning communities full of students ready to reignite their love of books.

My Project

After giving my students a reading survey, I realized so many had LOST their love of reading! As young children, we love to read but demands on students over the years have taken their joy away. As a learning community, my students and I talked about reigniting the reading spark and really getting to the heart of what makes reading fun. Now, all my students are reading every day, but we have limited resources in our library. Having books at their fingertips encourages continued engagement. With these carefully chosen books, students can continue to challenge themselves and keep the fire burning.
