My Students
My students are excited about art! I teach K-5 art at a Title I school in North Carolina. My students are eager to create and learn. I cannot emphasize enough how important art is for my students during this pandemic. Art allows students to express themselves and cope with what they are going through. My class is providing them with a tangible way to process the world around them.
My students' excitement about art is contagious and pushes me to do my best despite the difficult circumstances of our school year!
My Project
This year has come with a lot of challenges for us all. One can imagine how difficult it has been for our students. I work at a title one school in North Carolina where we serve an awesome group of students. Our staff has completed regular SEL training through out this year and I would love to apply some of what I have learned in a small group setting through art journaling.
I would like to help a group of students who are particularly having a difficult time this year learn how to express their emotions through art journaling.
I would use these supplies to help students create their own personal art journals. These journals would be used to help students process their emotions during this last part of the year.
