This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
2nd grade boys can start to lose their enthusiasm about reading, unless they can choose their own books. Then they usually choose the funny ones.
Even my reluctant readers, love to read funny books.
They do not seem to realize it, but they are becoming more fluent readers with better comprehension every time they read one of these books Don't tell them, though, they think they are just enjoying themselves.
I am requesting a variety of books for my classroom library. Authors like Dav Pilkey are a teacher's secret weapons with reluctant readers, especially boys. Even though many of the books are meant for older children, my students are so enthusiastic about them, they devour them. They often ask for more time to read and that is magic to a teacher's ears.
