My students are a group of wonderful and curious first graders who are in the Mandarin Dual Language Program. Every day they spend half of their day in an English-speaking classroom with me, and the other half of the day in a Mandarin-speaking classroom with their second teacher.
In order to be proficient in both languages, my first graders listen and work hard every day, striving to learn all subject materials in both English and Mandarin.
My school is a Title I school, but students, families, teachers, and staff members are all collaboratively working together. We are all in it together to better ourselves in order to prepare our young learners for the real world.
My Project
The National Board Certification for teachers (NBCT) is a nationally recognized teaching certification for teachers. It's the distinguished and highest teaching certification that allows any teachers to achieve beyond their state credential certification. The NBCT is an anti-racist and inclusive institution.
As an NBCT teacher, I showcase the National Board's standards in the classroom, and demonstrate my dedication to my students and school.
NBCT teachers are required to renew their certification every five years. I am in need of a camera tripod to video tape my lessons that deepen my students' technology skills and prepare them for the future. It is part of the NBCT requirement to submit video lessons demonstrating my teaching practices and how students have advanced alongside our current technology skills. This device will ensure good quality less movement while filming. The other resources will help keep our devices charged as my students will be using them during the video lessons.
