My Students
My students are passionate about learning! They have beautiful and creative minds; they just need a little help bringing it out. Allowing students to learn in a variety of ways is crucial to reach all students in learning.
My students are full of life and energy and are always excited to learn.
They come from a disadvantaged school on the Windward side of Oahu. Our school is located in a predominately rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of the children of Hawaiian and/or Micronesian ancestry. I have a very diverse class of 21 students with different cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. They are motivated young students who struggle with everyday life due to the lack of accessible tools.
My Project
Providing my students with clover shaped colorful tables will help to promote astounding collaborative conversations! Our school is focusing on working in groups. These tables will offer my students the appropriate space to do that!
There is enough space to spread out and learn, but it is also close enough that they can talk to their neighbors!
Having this type of seating arrangement will also give students an opportunity to collaborate with other peers. I would like to create a safe, comfortable environment for my students so they can stop worrying about their surroundings and focus entirely on the learning!
