My Students

I am a third grade teacher in a Title I school. The area where we are located is near a naval base and allows for military and non-military families to attend our school.

One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch.

A lot of the students at my school also receive food bags to help support their families over the weekend. Of our student population, 80% are considered to be a minority and 74% are economically disadvantaged.

My classroom is an inclusion classroom where some of my students have an IEP for academic needs and others have an IEP for social emotional needs. We come from different backgrounds, but in the classroom we come together and teach one another about ourselves and our culture. We are the future and learning is the key to a bright, successful life. Happy, healthy, educated students is what we are all about!

My Project

My students have a lot of different seating options in the classroom currently. The one area that is lacking flexible seating is the small group instruction tables. The only option is chairs right now. The students enjoy other seats besides regular chairs. This project would give them another choice.

Flexible seating is the ability to pick what is best for you learning and your comfort.

If we have all the same seats in the classroom how are we promoting the most inviting area for people to learn to their fullest potential? My classroom is a cozy learning environment that promotes learning, comfort and knowledge. Help improve it today!
