My students need a bean bag chair, lounge chair, rocker gaming chair, yoga mat and a balance ball.

My Students

My students are individuals. They all present themselves differently due to their disabilities. Everyday is an opportunity for each child to grow and feel amazing! Our students are taught to be proud of the things they accomplish every single day.

I teach at a Title I school in Arizona were roughly 70% of our students are receiving free and reduced breakfast and lunch.

My students are in a self contained classroom where the possibilities are endless! Each day they gain exposure to the campus through a wide variety of activities. Our goal is to set them up for success in every setting they encounter on campus.

My Project

My students need access to different types of seating in order to help fulfill their sensory needs. Our students truly function as individuals in our classroom and what works for one student may not work for another. Currently, only a few of our students prefer the normal chairs. The rest of them are seeking alternative options.

Giving our students multiple options for seating allows them to remain engaged and gives them more opportunities for success when it comes to learning.

Some of our students are seeking places to sit where they can sink into a space. Others are looking for a softer chair. Some are also looking for an active way to sit, which allows them to focus more.

We would love the opportunity to present all of our students with multiple options. We'd like to have a chair that rocks in our room, because often that motion helps our students relax. We'd also love to add a chair that allows student to sink into the middle of it for some deep pressure. Others would do better with a ball they have to balance on, which would have them focusing on their work but also staying upright, keeping most of their attention on those two tasks.

The choices for our Autistic students would benefit them greatly.
