This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This coming year, I am teaching Language Arts and Mathematics to a fantastic group of 7th grade students. I have had these students since the 2017-2018 school year and I am excited to be providing Special Education support services to them again this year.

Our school has a supportive staff and positive community support for it's teachers.

Despite the economic challenges that the students face on a daily basis, because of the low socioeconomic area, it is clear that the parents still want the best for their children by their active involvement. While my students are actively challenged by not only their socioeconomic status but also their disability, they are still coming to class with a positive attitude and are ready to learn.

My Project

Try to remember being a student back in middle school and working in a chair attached to a desk. Now try imagining being a student who feels the need to constantly move, trapped in that desk for 45 minutes, being asked to also complete their assignments. I chose the adjustable leg activity table, the wobble stools and stability ball chairs for my students as extra seating options to help them focus better on their personal assignments.

This type of seating would specifically allow students that have extra movement issues, the space and the ability to do so without disrupting their peers or lesson during instruction.

This set up would also allow for small group instruction with ease of movement in both my Language Arts and Mathematics classes.
