My Students

My students are your prototypical middle school students. They love to learn (even if they won't admit to it) and they love to have fun (even when they are not supposed to). The school I teach at is a Title l school. The students come from a diverse background both socially and economically. A majority of the students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Every day I have the pleasure of teaching at a school which is consistently working to achieve both the dreams of Thomas Jefferson and Dr. King.

My Project

When you look back at your educational career do you remember the neat orderly rows you were forced to sit in? Do you remember the looks you were given when you needed a quick break and had to invent a reason to simply walk to the pencil sharpener or to the water fountain? Or do you remember the classroom where you were given some freedom of movement? A classroom where you were allowed to use some of that energy you had? A classroom that trusted you to choose where you worked provided you completed your tasks?

My goal is to create a classroom which combines both traditional seating methods and alternative ones.

Students will have desks, but they will also have the ability to choose to work in multiple locations. These locations will be outside the classroom at a picnic style table, at tables throughout the room, and with your donation a series of bean bag chairs. My goal is to give my students as many options as possible to be successful. Thank you for helping support my students and my classroom.
