This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a Title I public school located in Baltimore City. The school is filled with fantastic people, from the principal to the teachers to the custodial staff, who are devoted to creating a rigorous academic environment for our students. I work with approximately 40 students with speech and language disabilities from preschool through grade 5.

My students are hard-working and resilient!

Despite the obstacles they face daily, they continue to be passionate about learning and exploring. I hope to foster this curiosity and love for learning in each and every one of my students.

My Project

These Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tub manipulatives will help my students learn a variety of skills including letter sounds, speech sounds, and vocabulary. Students will be able to search for objects in a sensory bin and identify the beginning sound or produce a target speech sound. Students will label the object or sort them into categories to enhance vocabulary skills. Students will engage in scavenger hunts around the classroom looking for objects containing a target letter or speech sound. These Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tub manipulatives can be used in so many ways to engage students in learning a variety of skills!
