Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For the past nine years, I have had the privilege of teaching first graders. However, this year I am teaching a class of busy and rambunctious Kindergarteners. Moving from First Grade to Kindergarten, there are many teaching skills, that can be transferred, but one thing I am lacking are the tools to build alphabet knowledge and foundation. Most First Graders come with a fairly strong foundation of the alphabet and are ready to learn how to put those skills into reading. Kindergarteners still need the knowledge of the alphabet before they can even think about reading.
We need alphabet games and activities to help us learn our alphabet sounds, names, and the fun & joy of reading.
It would make my ESL students extremely happy to also have more pictorial tools to help them build their language. Kindergarteners love to be independent, and teaching them how to love literacy and enjoy it, will make them productive in their independence.
Please consider giving to this invaluable project. We desperately need these tools to help us become strong readers, writers, and contributors to society.
