This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My prekindergarten students are very curious and enthusiastic! They enter my classroom every day excited and eager to learn. They are constantly asking questions, making discoveries, and trying to make sense of the world around them.
My prekindergarten students attend a Title I school in a large urban district.
All of the students at the school qualify for the Federal Free Lunch Program. The students are predominately Latino and the majority of them are English Language Learners. Despite their disadvantaged background, my students are enthusiastic children who enter my classroom every day ready to learn.
My Project
Using the alphabet puppets during online instruction will motivate my students to learn more about the letters of the alphabet. It will help them develop their early literacy skills. Each puppet is a character that starts with the letter of the alphabet. For example, the Aa puppet is an alligator while the Z puppet is a Zebra. Each puppet is colorful and also has an upper and lowercase letter. The puppets are washable and have movable mouths and arms. Using puppets with young learners makes learning fun and keeps students engaged during online instruction.
