A typical day in my classroom begins with 15 eager Kindergarten students that are ready to learn and have fun! "Creativity is as important now in education as literacy & we should treat it with the same status" -Ken Robinson
Our Title I school is centered around a close-knit community near Syracuse, New York.
Most families have been in the area for generations. My students come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of learning needs and styles. Literature based, hands-on activities are always favorites within the classroom!
My Project
I will be using the alphabet puppets and puppet theater to introduce the letter of the week. Students will then use the alphabet tubs and write on/wipe off boards to reinforce the letter/sound connection, while practicing their handwriting. After that, we will be using the craft supplies so that students can create their own alphabet puppet to take home.
My students always love hands-on activities, and I feel that they learn more from doing them.
This project will give them a greater sense of the letter/sound connection, while making learning fun! Students will be able to take their alphabet puppet home and share their knowledge with their families.
