This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our program would love a countertop oven so that it is accessible daily. We have been relying on microwaves and a toaster to bring cooking into the classroom. The curriculum we use provides a life skills opportunity that incorporates cooking at least once a week. This is something I usually skip over or adapt to a microwave recipe, as the oven location in our building is not accessible to our students.

Students in our program have developmental and cognitive disabilities.
We spend much of our time focusing on transitional skills that will help them be successful adults.
