Our elementary students grow and learn at a Pre K-5 rural elementary school. Being in a rural community, we would like to bring opportunities that they may not be exposed to otherwise. They are wonderful children who are eager to expand their experiences and minds. We are partners in our journey through the years they spend with us.
Being a part of their journey, I have learned from my many years of teaching that students need to be connected to what they are learning.
These Harry Potter wands will illuminate my students understanding of coding. They will be working with partners and rotating through stations to experience different aspects of coding, through plugged and unplugged interactions. They will see their algorithms in action in front of their eyes. In the course of learning how to code, my students will also face challenges and make mistakes, but I believe the process is as important as the outcome.
"Failure is instructive, the person who really thinks learns quite as much from his failures as from his success," a quote attributed to American philosopher, John Dewey and I believe by having these resources, my students will be enriched through this wonderful experience.
