My students need larger sized ukuleles to accommodate students with larger hands. We currently only have soprano ukuleles. We also need a Bass and Baritone ukuleles to balance out our sound.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students have not studied music at all. Most of them did not have the room in their schedules to take music in previous years, and are very happy to learning how to play an instrument (ukulele).

My first-year students learn how to sing, play basic chords, strum patterns, and learn how to perform popular songs.

Since the ukulele is such a versatile instrument, students can learn to play music of all styles: island reggae, alternative, r&b, pop, rap, and rock.

My Project

Our school only has soprano ukuleles. Soprano sized ukuleles are great for beginners, but beginners with larger hands and fingers need more space on the fretboard to create a better sound. With Concert sized-ukuleles, students will be able to comfortably play melodic lines, especially with the extended fret board.

With Baritone Ukuleles, students who have some guitar experience will learn how to play supporting chord changes for music.

With a Ukulele Bass, students will learn how to play the bass notes of chords, provide the roots of the chords to songs and learn how to create bass lines.

Playing ukulele teaches students harmony, teamwork, kindness, and brings happiness to our school. Learning to play ukulele helps unite students and teaches them hobby that will last a lifetime.
