This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My French students are curious, motivated, and eager to grow their language skills beyond the textbook. To support their learning, I am requesting books and a class subscription to Allons-y, a Scholastic magazine in French designed for high school learners, as well as a few high-interest French readers appropriate for their level. These resources offer real-world language in context—engaging articles, beautiful visuals, and culturally rich content that will help my students see French as a living language spoken around the world. They will gain confidence by reading about current topics and everyday experiences written in accessible, level-appropriate French.

This project will help my students see themselves as real readers and global citizens.

My goal is to provide them with authentic, enjoyable texts that support vocabulary development, reading fluency, and cultural understanding. With Allons-y and a small classroom library of French readers, students will be able to practice reading strategies, reinforce grammar and vocabulary in context, and explore the Francophone world from our classroom. These materials also allow for differentiated learning, giving students opportunities to read at their own pace and according to their interests.

My students are special because they come to class with open minds and a willingness to try—many of them are learning French as a third or even fourth language. They understand the power of communication and the beauty of different cultures. These reading materials will not only support their language development, but also nurture their enthusiasm and appreciation for the wider world. Merci for helping bring French to life for them!
