All You Need is Art

My students need basic art supplies such as pencils, markers and crayons to channel their creative energy into beautiful works of art.

My Students

My students love to create art when they step into my room but are frustrated when the crayons are all broken and too short to use and the pencils always seem to have a way of disappearing. They love to use markers and colored pencils to add details and would appreciate using great new supplies.

My students attend an urban, inner city school in Connecticut.

The majority qualify for free and reduced lunch. In order for my students to have a well-rounded education, the arts are an integral part. By practicing visual arts, it has been shown that students can improve concentration and focus in other academic areas. Students who often struggle with other aspects of school find a refuge in making and creating art.

My Project

My students will learn to use and appreciate their new art supplies by taking good care of them, using them as intended and after being shown how, create wonderful drawings with their new markers, colored pencils, crayons and color sticks. They will be able to experiment with different techniques in each medium and use them as they grow, from kindergarten all the way through eighth grade.

My students are held back by the fact that the art room lacks basic supplies to make art.

Crayons, colored pencils, markers, pencils, erasers and sharpeners are staples of every good art room and I don't have enough to meet the needs of all my students. With your generous donations, my students will be free to create whatever their imaginations have in store for them.
