My Students

My goal is for all of my students to be well prepared to enter Kindergarten in the Fall. Since this is the first school experience these children have, I want to make it as positive and engaging as possible! By having more materials, I hope to increase their abilities in all academic and social areas.

All of my students come from low-income households and are learning English as their second language.

They are very energetic and creative children who love to explore new materials and ideas. We are lucky to be in a school district where they truly value early childhood education. We use a curriculum that focuses on academics but also on the whole child. By also teaching them social-emotional skills and problem solving strategies, we can help prepare them for overall success in the future!

My Project

In our classroom we have many different areas for the children to explore and learn in. I am trying to get books into all of the various areas in order to expose my students to even more types of books.

My students love building with multiple materials and the books about building and different types of architecture will hopefully inspire their creations even further!

I hope to see them making blueprints for their projects and creating things like bridges, ramps, towers, etc.

This year my students really love the Art Area and I hope these books will awaken the little artist inside of each of them even more! The Mini-Masters board books will hopefully inspire them to create many different types of paintings and artwork. We talk a lot about artists, paintings, and sculptures but with these books the students will have a real feel for what we have been talking about all year.

For the Book Area we are in need of more books about diversity and I think these books focusing on why being different is good will teach the students great lessons that they hopefully will take with them for the rest of their lives. Finally, in the House Area the students have been really intersted in cookbooks so we wanted to add some of those into the area as well.
