My Students

The students at my school are very diverse and a curious bunch. They do come from a low income area where they do not have a lot. The school is a Title 1 school where most children receive free or reduced lunch and every student gets a free breakfast everyday. However, this does not stop them from wanting to explore and learn new things in a fun way. My students thrive on that kind of learning. They want their lessons to be fun and exciting in all subjects including music.

My Project

My students need a class set of Ukuleles to help them apply and reinforce musical concepts, that they have learned throughout their elementary music education, to a practical and easy to learn instrument. Learning skills on the Ukulele can easily be transferred to guitar and other music instruments.

Not only can they reinforce music concepts, learning to play Ukulele will help reinforce math, reading, science and social studies skills.

It can also help them work on teamwork and perseverance.

My students will use the Ukuleles to learn songs of their choice and then perform them for their classmates and for a concert.
