My Project

Third-grade students should have access to materials such as markers, crayons, and colored pencils in a wide range of colors, including various skin tones, to support inclusivity and cultural representation in the classroom. When students are given tools that allow them to accurately reflect themselves and others in their artwork and assignments, they feel seen, valued, and respected. Representation matters, and having access to diverse materials fosters a sense of belonging and helps children understand that all people, regardless of race or background, are important and worthy of inclusion.

Additionally, diverse art supplies encourage empathy, creativity, and cultural awareness.

When children can illustrate people from different cultures using appropriate skin tones and features, they are more likely to engage in conversations about identity and diversity in meaningful ways. This not only broadens their understanding of the world but also nurtures respect for others. Equipping classrooms with inclusive materials helps create a learning environment where every child feels acknowledged and empowered to express their full identity.
