My Project

This project is supporting a 1st grade classroom at a Title 1 school in the heart of Pahoa, Hawaii. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic many students are having to adjust being back in the classroom- after being home for so long. I truly believe this project will greatly impact my students who have been affected by COVID-19 because it aims to increase engagement in many different ways and promote positive experiences in school again! Flexible seating is so important because it helps to improve concentration, increase focus, reduce restlessness, and prevent distractions in the classroom. Additionally, I would love to provide my students with hands on manipulatives - like building magnetics and modeling clay- to further encourage engagement in the classroom. Lastly, the SEL resource called "A Little Spot of Emotion" will be the perfect tool in helping my students understand their big emotions to be more present in the classroom (and in life)- yay engagement!
