Help me give my students functioning and comfortable seating for our computer stations, outdoor games for social time, and ink for our self funded color printer!
Our students are 18 to 21 and come to us with a wide range of abilities. We strive to create experiences for them all to feel included. Some are great artists while others enjoy seeing bright colors in their spaces. Some thrive on touch while others respond to smells. Finding out what moves a student to respond to their surroundings in the most independent way possible is what the staff strives for. We are helping some of them navigate college courses, while for others we are creating a sensory experience that invites reactions. Our hope is that we can find the things that give our students a purposeful life and that they can use that information to build from as they transition out of school and into their lives.
My Project
As a small program within a smaller school district, we are left with lots of hand me downs and very little funds to update the offerings for our students. We really want to have a new selection of outdoor games to encourage social time, less screen time, and more moving. We also do our best to incorporate the latest technology and have not had updated seating for many years.
ALL students deserve to have access to fun activities and more ergonomic seating.
These items will provide students and staff many more activities to choose from and help everyone get outside and enjoy relationships. The seating will give everyone in the building the option to use a functioning, comfortable chair for many tasks.
We are also trying to offer print services to our school district as a work experience all of our students could participate in. Last year we funded a project that helped us get a color printer and now we just need to keep up our ink supplies.
