My Project
As an educator dedicated to helping all students succeed, I am committed to deepening my understanding of evidence-based literacy instruction. To achieve this, I am requesting funding for a set of professional development books that focus on the Science of Reading, dyslexia, and supporting English learners. These resources will provide me with the tools and knowledge needed to better serve my diverse group of students, ensuring every child receives the instruction they need to thrive.
The books I am requesting include Science of Reading: Defining Guide, Dyslexia: Revisiting Etiology, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Policy, Literacy Foundations for English Learners, and Handbook on the Science of Early Literacy.
These professional development resources will allow me to improve literacy instruction, support struggling readers, empower English learners, and strengthen early literacy skills. The knowledge I gain will help me develop more effective teaching methods that foster reading success for all students. I will also be better equipped to identify and support students with dyslexia and other reading challenges, ensuring their unique needs are met with empathy and skill. Additionally, the insights from these resources will help me implement strategies tailored to English learners, giving them equitable access to literacy instruction. By understanding the science of early literacy, I can build a strong foundation for young learners, setting them up for long-term academic success.
This project matters because many students face barriers to literacy due to learning differences or language challenges. With these resources, I will be able to address these needs more effectively, create a supportive classroom environment, and help every student reach their full potential. The knowledge I gain from these books will extend beyond my classroom, allowing me to collaborate with colleagues, share insights, and advocate for best practices throughout our school community.
