This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Now that our new adventure has begun, our new school has many needs and Music isn’t always first on the list. Our school district is located in the Arkansas Delta, across the bridge from Memphis, TN. The majority of our students come from lower socio-economic backgrounds and their opportunities are limited.
Our Visual and Performing Arts school has an All Star Choir that needs Binders to keep their music organized.
The choir is made up of students from grades 5 and 6.
I want the VPA Choir students to feel confident and look as good as they sound!
My Project
Students in 5th and 6th grades are talented, fun and often forgetful and a bit messy. These binders will help my awesome Choir students be more organized and keep up with music as we are learning songs for performance.
For most of these students this is their first experience of being in a performance group and having a binder will help them be responsible for keeping up with such a valued resource.
If given the tools to be successful positive character traits can be developed that can change a student for life. I hope to help my students not only be good musicians but also responsible citizens.
