Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are lively and curious 5 and 6 year olds. They love to play and they are very eager to learn. They love listening to stories and looking at books in our classroom library. This is the first school experience for most of my students. The challenges of teaching during a pandemic can be ameliorated with engaging learning tools like large tactile letters, alphabet letters that turn into robots, and play dough that can be shaped into the letters of the alphabet in conjunction with the Learn the Alphabet Dough Mats.
Young children learn best through tactile experiences and other forms of play.
The tools I am requesting will be a wonderfully engaging way for my students to learn to read. Several of my students are on the autism spectrum. They really benefit from tactile learning experiences. I know they will really love to use all of these learning tools. Some of my students are beginning to learn to read while others are still learning to recognize the letters of the alphabet and the sounds that the letters make. These games and activities will help the entire range of learners in my class.
These materials will make a difference in the lives of my students by giving them a variety of activities to use to help them in their quest to learn to read. While my students think they are "just playing," they will actually be learning. Because they will have fun with these materials, I know they will come back to these activities again and again.
