We are an energetic and fun-loving group of students who dream big and always want to achieve more. In the classroom, we are always looking for more ways to collaborate, create, think critically, and share our learning. School provides us with nutrition, safety, and a drive for learning. This year we are lucky enough to be in a combination class consisting of fourth and fifth graders!
We are diverse learners who enjoy being collaborative, innovative, and imaginative!
We are eager to learn! We enjoy choices because we understand that we are all different types of learners. Our teacher, Ms. Nakashima, emphasizes that we all are unique, but we still need to collaborate and cooperate, giving a voice to all of the students in our classroom including the shyest student and our English learners. We are a team in our room!
My Project
Reading stories is one of the most fundamental ways of making meaning and exploring themes in our own lives. As we begin in distance learning, we want to promote discussion and understand ALL students' learning styles. The district provides funding for textbooks but does not have enough for supplementary novels. Reading Fish in a Tree will support a growth mindset, encourage students to embrace learning differences, and cultivate an empathetic learning environment for all learners.
Instilling a love of reading and learning is vital to a student's success.
As we balance digital learning and paper-based learning, we want books in our students' hands. Our students will dive deeper into the text to learn life lessons. Through this story, we will explore social emotional learning (SEL) topics like kindness, friendship, diversity and self-confidence. These books and supplies will strengthen our school community by fostering discussions around the themes of empathy, kindness, and acceptance.
