This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Welcome! My students aren’t your typical students. They live in a low-income area and many of them have not had experiences of the average privileged child. Our school has been identified as a trauma school due to the many difficulties these students have faced. With all that being said our students are still expected to perform at high standards just as their counterparts on the state FSA. This year I want to help my students explore the world outside of their daily lives. There is so much for these young minds to see and experience but the confinements of their normal lives and limited responses prevent them from doing that. As a school, we try to provide our students with opportunities that they would not get to have otherwise. We don’t let these barriers hold our students back from their very own potential.
My Project
A simple sheet of paper can help promote and encourage learning in our students. The current reality is at my school kids do not always come prepared for learning. This copy paper will allow me as an educator to provide my students with the resources that they need and also home learning to extend the learning at home. It is a struggle when you work at a school in a low socioeconomic area and the parents can’t afford to provide the students with the essentials that they need to come prepared for learning every day. With this copy paper, I will be able to make copies of lessons, daily classroom activities and other things that the students may need.
