My Students

My kiddos are my family. Every day, a special memory or thought pops up about every child I have or have had. I can't imagine my life without my family or my class children. That is why I feel it is so beneficial to include families in my teaching. These families are what make me the teacher I am today. I strive for my kids to be the best children they can be and show off who they are and love themselves as I love them.

Every day for the past 15 years, I have welcomed eager learners and their families with a huge smile, an open ear, ​and an endless heart.

Any donation goes toward our future teachers, engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and whatever they dream to be.

I grew up here and am an Alumni of our District. New Hartford is an attractive, popular and academically-oriented suburb of Utica, in approximately the center of New York State. My families are very involved in helping their children be successful.

My Project

Math is changing on how kids are expected to solve math problems. There really is a deeper understanding, and at times the strategies we teach are very difficult for many students and their parents. So my idea is to take these strategies and engage the students in them.

Students need to be moving and manipulating these new math strategies through hands-on resources.

My idea is to bring the math strategies alive. Kids can practice their math using larger materials to enhance their learning.

This year, I used a large number line and had the kids jump out the addition and subtraction problems. I saw a lot of them enjoy math in a different way, even though the technique I was teaching them was tough. I also saw improvements in math scores.

These learning resources I am asking for will bring the rest of our math topics to life. Imagine walking on a large number chart as you work with numbers to 120 with a partner. Or kids can play store and make change using play money. The possibilities are endless.

These are ideas I can't wait to bring into my classroom. I know every student will benefit from working through math while also playing games. I appreciate any support you have to help my future mathematicians.
