Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am fortunate to teach an inclusive, public preschool program. My class is composed of 3, 4 and 5 year-olds with and without special needs. All of my students have strengths and needs.
Together we discover that we all have something to contribute and something to learn.
Diversity is a strength. Together we have an opportunity to be more self-aware, more open-minded and more compassionate.
I strive to have my students' first school experience be positive, engaging and play-filled. I aim to create a classroom where social emotional skills are emphasized and practiced.
My Project
Having a sand and water table in my classroom will give my preschool students an opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences. With a sand and water table I can support and enhance what my students' are learning in their curriculum.
Wouldn't it be fantastic to have flour, mixing bowls and wooden spoons in the sand and a water table when reading "The Little Red Hen?"
Students learn in a variety ways. A sand and water table has the potential to create tactile learning experiences for my students who learn by doing. In the words of the Little Red Hen, "Who will donate to have a sand and water table in my classroom?"
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
