My Students

We are the largest elementary school in our district. We combined two schools together after the 2011 EF5 tornado. Both schools were completely destroyed. My kindergarten students come from all walks of life. Some have everything they need and others have nothing. School is their safe place. The majority of my students are on free or reduced lunch. The one thing they all have in common though is the desire to come to school and learn. They are all extremely curious and love to learn.

My Project

Kindergarten kiddos are naturally curious and they love to build things. The STEM kits that I have requested will give them the opportunity to do just that.

With the STEM kits, my kiddos will get to use their imagination to design houses, cars, and other many projects.

They will be able to work with a partner, in groups, or by themselves to design and build whatever project they can imagine. The sky is the limit. These activities will be used in our daily oral language centers. My plan is to have children mainly working together to create these projects thus strengthening their oral language skills. They will be also be learning math and science through play. The best way for a kindergarten child to learn.

Young children learn best through hands on projects. I would love to be able to provide these as center choices in my classroom for all of my creative kiddos.
