Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are creative and imaginative. They are hard-workers and thinkers. Technology has been a real game-changer in my class. We have a smart board and Chromebooks in our classroom, and my students enjoy using them to explore the world and express themselves. It may take them some time to achieve a goal, but they are so determined and focused, work gets done that is beyond what they imagined being able to do.

Student voice is an important part of our daily routine through classroom discussions and partner talk.

My students love being able to verbalize their thoughts, but there are times when writing about what is on their minds can be an obstacle. They have different learning styles so I use a variety of learning strategies to get the lesson across to them. My students learn from one another and help one another as they want to see everyone succeed. They love learning and enjoy using student voice and technology to accomplish their goals.

My Project

As a resource teacher, it is my job to help my students get a better grasp of the materials that their general ed peers are exposed to. I use a lot of visuals, as they tend to really give my students a better understanding of the lesson. Independent practice on the computer is where they can work through assigned tasks Wireless mice are a necessity in our class. Wireless mice will make working though digital tasks easier, from manipulating images and shapes in slides or drawing in Nearpod or Pear Deck. The use of an iPad will increase their digital learning though apps and allow them to share their learning and their work by showcasing it on the classroom smart board.

The iPad and wireless mice are wonderful digital tools that will help my students to become more immersed in their learning through hands on practice.
