Help me give my students a hands on learning experience with math and science activities. The addition, subtraction and science games, velcro, markers and laminating sheets will increase peer engagement and provide for fun learning centers.
I have eight wonderful students, each one of them has a diagnosis of Autism. They have different abilities and interests yet they all need the same small structured environment where they feel safe and nurtured.
Our school is located in the inner city of Bronx, New York where the poverty level is high.
My students require multiple curriculum modifications and benefit from sensory input. They are provided with occupational, physical and speech-language therapy, enjoy sensory breaks, moving to music, and creating projects. They face challenges everyday and continue to increase progress towards their IEP goals.
My Project
My students benefit from active learning centers. The have short attention spans and require adult support to complete most given tasks. The addition / subtraction games and the life science activities will help my students reach their IEP goals.
My students benefit from fun engaging activities that reinforce new skills taught and increase peer engagement.
All of these supplies will be used daily to help my students reach their goals. Dry erase markers are ideal for my class, we practice math, writing words, and sentences on dry erase boards. The many colors allow students to choose a color taking control of a small aspect of their day. The laminating pouches and velcro will be used to create file folder games. These items create a fun learning environment and will benefit my awesome classroom of eight students with various abilities.
