Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a first grade teacher in East New York Brooklyn. I have the wonderful opportunity of teaching 20 bright and eager students. Balanced literacy and math take up a majority of my day, while important subjects like science and social studies often get put on the back burner. I love Gail Gibbons' books because she incorporates science and social studies themes in her stories. I am requesting several books written by Gail Gibbons. These books will give me the opportunity to have a more interdisciplinary approach to my teaching. My students have read several books by Gail Gibbons and loved them. Her writing is child friendly, and also is a way for students to read non-fiction books and learn new facts. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
