Help me give my students 6 Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition tablets, 12 JBuddies Studio headphones, and 8 Insignia wireless mice which we will use on our current Chromebooks.
My students are inquisitive, creative, and enjoy being challenged. They love collaboratively working on projects and tasks, but especially love using technology! Using the appropriate tools in order to meet their academic needs motivates them to learn more and allows them to become who they want to be, which is paramount to all of our success.
As Queen Raina of Jordan states, "In education, technology can be a life changer, a game changer, for kids who are both in school and out of school.
Technology can bring textbooks to life. The Internet can connect students to their peers in other parts of the world. It can bridge the quality gaps."
My students live in a low-income area, within a city district that is in transition. With that being said, funding is limited and used towards human capital and basic supplies. While these items are extremely important, my students are in need of additional, technology-based, supplies that are not readily available.
My Project
Not all students are as adept at using a track pad on a laptop as they are a touchscreen or a cell phone, so purchasing wireless mice will allow them to successfully use our current Chromebooks without having to purchase all new desktops. In addition, there are a plethora of educational apps available through Amazon that are capable of not only assisting a struggling student in improving their skills, but a non-English speaking student to gain access to the English language at their own pace, or a gifted student to further their inquisitiveness and excitement for learning. Being able to get six Amazon Fire HD Kids Edition tablets would allow for all students to have the tools that they need for success in school.
"Technology in the classroom is NOT the end goal; enabling learning everywhere is the goal." - Andrew Barras
Being technology literate, being able to communicate and collaborate, being creative, productive, and demonstrate initiative, as well as being critical thinkers and leaders are just a few of the 21st Century Skills that these materials will address. Please help me to prepare my students for the futures that await each and every one of them.
