Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social emotional learning helps improve academics, reduce negative social behaviors, and create positive classroom climates. This year in my classroom we have created a school family. We have adapted a classroom that uses Conscience Discipline and we are seeing our students now only grow academically, but socially as well.

Students that have a strong social emotional learning skills abuild healthy and positive relationships, as well as help manage their moods and behaviors.

These skills are the most important area a teacher can work on, especially in an early childhood setting.

Stuffed emotion dolls and manipulatives will act as a visual for my students with different abilities. The emotion coloring books be used in the calm down corner where students go to self regulate. Timers and fidgets are of great importance in my classroom to manage break/work times, as well as to keep hands busy during academic times.

While academics are of huge importance in my classroom, I know gifting my students with strategies for self regulation is dire for their futures in schools, the workforce and their personal lives.
