All Children Should Have a Choice

My students need nets for outside recreation to give them more to choose from and so more students can play games. So many students get left out of sport type games.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and want to have fun! They love active, engaging projects and challenges and would love to have a choice of activities to participate in. They come to school each day ready to try new things and always have great ideas about how to make our playground more diverse. They want to add updates to our playground so that there is more to choose from. There is currently lots of space with nothing to do, according to the students. Most of the space is taken up playing sport type activities. Not all students want to play sports.

Our school is made up of many small towns from all around.

It is a Title I school. We do not have lots of money to complete projects. We have wanted to update and upgrade our playground for several years now.

My students are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have so many students that are excited and ready to learn new activities and games. In turn, they are getting physical activity instead of sitting around. The playground needs to be more diverse for each type of child, not just athletes.

My Project

The different nets for the playground would have such value and add to the allure of the playground. I have so many students that are not in competitive sports but would love to play some recreational and lead up games. They currently have none of these nets available. These volleyball, badminton and tennis nets would be a great start for them. Many have asked to play with the few badminton and ping pong paddles I have, but I have nothing to go with it. I hate seeing the look of disappointment. These kids deserve more choices!

I have many who discover a love for physical activity when getting to try new things!
