This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at an amazing Title I school where 85% of our students come from a low socioeconomic status. Most of the families I serve have working parents with little or no education. Comprised of mostly minorities, our school has a spirit of unity that shines through. We are a large family nearing 900 students. The passion for learning is felt when you walk through the doors. I work with children with special needs in grades K through 5th. My students are loving and kind and have real determination. I strive to teach them the skills they need to be active participants in our community.
My Project
For safety during the COVID 19 pandemic, each student needs their own individual magnetic alphabet letters, letter tiles, ten frame, and base ten manipulatives.
You can make a difference in the life of a child with special needs by providing supplies that will empower them to feel prepared to for learning.
These materials will be used for remote and in person learning. Providing these materials would enable the students to continue with learning, no matter the setting. Students will learn the letters, sounds, numbers, and number sense with these materials.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
