All Around the World in Kindergarten

My students need 14 books to better understand each other and other cultures around the world. I teach at a low poverty school and many of my students enjoy books but do not have that pleasure at home. In my classroom I also have many ESOL students and many of this books could help validate their culture in the classroom. I plan to use these books as read alouds and then place them in the classroom library for the students to enjoy.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Smith's classroom raised $231

This project is fully funded

I teach kindergarten in a title one school. Ninety five percent of the students that go to my school live below poverty levels. In a effort to help expand their funds of knowledge I constantly look for hands on activities and books to aide their learning.

Many of my students show up at the beginning of the year with no school supplies, much less books to treasure at home. Every year I try to bring more and more books into our classroom library. I think it is important to try to bring in as many resources as I can in to the classroom to give them experiences they have never had before.

If I receive these books it will open up other cultures and worlds for my students to see, other than their own. It is also my hope that it will allow them to see there are others out there in sad situations but that there is hope.

The students I teach are young and deal with things that most adults do not deal with. I have several in foster care, some who witness things that there little minds should not have to. Every year I find myself hoping and praying that I bring joy into my students life because many have already experienced enough pain. It is a joy to have new books and materials in the classroom and we will be really grateful if you are willing to donate.
