All Access Pass to Authentic Spanish Beyond the Textbook
My students need technology! Technology in our classroom will be used to implement software that aids in differentiated instruction to challenge both advanced and gifted learners as well as to support struggling students!
My students are creative learners with a desire for a high tech environment. Each student that I teach has one artistic gift or another. Whether they are visual artists, musically gifted, or have a knack for creating professional presentations, they use their gifts in our Spanish class daily to get their point across and use their new language in combination with their creative talents.
We are always in need of tools to develop student talents, push the bounds of creativity, and communicate in new and exciting ways.
My students are learning quickly in our low tech classroom, but the depth of their learning could become much more profound. As my students, they expect me to provided them with all the tools they need to be successful in and out of the classroom. Who am I to get in the way of their creativity?
My Project
So far this year, our classroom has acquired three laptops that we use for collaborative work and for students that don't have devices in class. It has been helpful but it's not enough.
We hope to add one more laptop per project and quickly double our classroom technology!
The addition of the these laptops would allow for one laptop at each of our 6 mesas (tables). This would improve and expand upon the work we already do with Google Classroom and Drive as part of our collaborative and project based learning.
It would also provide more access to authentic Spanish language resources that the students could use at their own pace. That is to say, it would help our class improve its personalized learning initiative of allowing student centered learning to occur as quickly or slowly as each individual student might need.
Many may be shocked that our students don't have the access to technology in the classroom that they most likely will be required to use in their future careers. In our globalized world, it is imperative to be proficient in both a second language and in the use of the latest technology. Help my students build both skills by donating to this project.
