This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 30 wonderful scholars. They all work really and always give me 100%. Despite their living conditions and family life, they still manage to come to school every day with smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts. They deserve the world and Im just trying to give it to them. They are extremely bright, and, when given the chance, they excel. When they constantly are told they can't succeed, they start to believe it. It's my job to make them believe in themselves again.
My Project
My scholars are starting to learn about shapes in our next module. In this module, scholars will learn the names of 2D and 3D shapes. They will learn how to properly identify them by the number of sides and corners. They will also learn how to properly draw each shape. What I have learned about them is that they are a hands-on interactive bunch. Learning from the book and worksheets is not enough for them to master a concept. Although I work really hard at trying to make and create other materials for them, we just don't have the funds to buy the materials need to help them advance and show complete mastery.
With this project, my hope is to make the learning experience for my scholars fun and interactive, while still being educational.
I have added things like Geo Boards, Gel Shapes, and even 3D shapes to my list. The materials are minor needs that would be seen as a reasonable request to most to ensure the success of scholars. However, for those who can not afford the minor needs, this is an urgent request from a passionate teacher, for her intelligent scholars.
