Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have 26 smart, energetic students that seem to enjoy coming to school and learning each day. I have one English Learner and two that receive special services. My students love participating in engaging activities that gives them an opportunity to ask and answer critical thinking questions. They work together and offer support to their peers when needed!

My Project

Providing my students with a diverse collection of books in the classroom library will support all students in finding books that they can read and connect with on some level. It will help in the development of a broad perspective on the world. If they read a variety of books and other reading material, their vocabulary will improve as well. Their vocabulary expands with each new word they discover in a diverse collection of reading materials they consume. My students love going to the classroom library to choose a book of their choice. The library is a vital source of knowledge for the students and will help cultivate the important habit of reading among them. Reading is fundamental, a diverse collection of books will help my students develop a love for reading by choosing books that they will enjoy!
