All About Our Literacy Center: Exceptional 1st & 2nd Graders

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a special ed teacher at a new school this year and I have the wonderful opportunity of teaching eager, sweet and curious young minds in a self-contained class for 1st and 2nd grade bridge.
I am so excited to begin this new adventure with my students while our school has over 95% of students with minority background, and nearly all from low-income households.
As a teacher, I see my students need to increase their literacy skills but, we lack of any kind/basic of classroom library that can foster/support their learning for the current school year.
My Project
As the school year continues to progress, I see the need to provide my special ed students with a mobile literacy center. It's a cart supplied with different items for them to use, including crayons, markers, books appropriate for their reading levels, and magnetic boards to help them place letters in a hands-on way or draw pictures. I routinely move from table to table to teach, and a mobile cart will help me bring the supplies straight to the students.
Please help us to set up a mobile literacy center to fulfill their learning goals with a rolling cart and accompanying equipment, including a white board, magnetic letters and organizers for individual students.
I will use these resources to enhance the learning of phonetics, reinforcing math, hands-on learning, and reading in an individualized manner for my 12 students. Each of our students have their strengths and learning goals to meet. I want them to grow as much as possible this year and I believe these resources will provide them access to the education they deserve.
