Do you remember how you felt about your first day of school? How did your teacher help you to feel welcome into your new classroom family? My students need an abundance of tools to help establish a strong sense of self in the classroom!
Our school in California is very diverse.
My students speak many languages and most are speaking English for the very first time. Home life can be stressful for my students as basic necessities like clean clothes, healthy foods and medical needs are hard to come by. The everyday life struggles can sometimes get in the way of learning but overall, my students come to school happy and eager to learn.
My Project
Writing is an essential part of our kindergarten curriculum. My students are learning to express themselves through their art and journal writing. Unfortunately, budget cuts have forced me to photocopy journal paper that I have used in the past years. It's important for my students to have large illustration space to draw their pictures and the appropriate lines help them to develop neat manuscript writing. The Draw and Write Journals will be perfect for my students when they are writing independently. At the end of the year each child will have a collection of writing samples published in their own journal book. The paint will help my students add details and become wonderful illustrators.
My students and I need your help.
Without your donation, my students will not have access to high quality writing materials. Our writing will only get better with your generous support.
