My students are in need of books, journals, and art supplies that will enables them to see the world through the eyes of another person in order to alleviate their suffering or help them. Students will use read aloud books to open discussion and role plays of compassion. Feeling sliders will offer visuals for students to express themselves so others can show compassion and see the world through the eyes of others. Play-doh will be used to model facial expressions, use as story starter to role play ways to help others feel better, and provide discussions to measure a students understanding of what compassion means. Journals, crayons, and colored pencils will allow students to write and reflect on teacher guided lessons using activity with 50 lessons on compassion. This workbook along with journals will allow the teacher to measure growth in definition, real-life situation on the play ground, and in the community.
Activity books, read aloud, visuals, journals, and play-doh will allow students to see the world through the eyes of another person in order to alleviate their suffering or help them.
Compassion is a life skill needed through adulthood. What better way to start than building a firm foundation in elementary school.
