Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 18 eager kindergarteners ready to learn each day. However, students come in with different learning styles, and simply a one-size-fits-all teaching approach is never the answer.. They look forward to all kinds of learning opportunities especially those opportunities where they can interact and learn from each other.
All of my students qualify for our free lunch program and many come from families that experience economic hardship.
Nonetheless, my students come to school everyday eager to learn despite any circumstance or obstacle they may encounter outside of our classroom. My goal is to help them realize their potential.
My Project
My students need learning center activities and games to reinforce skills we are learning. In order to achieve this, we need construction paper, literacy, math and STEM activities to support our station and center rotations. I love to make centers/stations come alive for my students by giving them hands-on materials and activities that support their learning. These activities should be an extension of their everyday world. I will use these materials to create center/station activities for Reading, Science, and Math. We know children naturally discover and explore through play, asking questions, and using creativity to solve simple problems. These STEM and Science kits will be wonderful tools to help students become problem solvers by providing hands-on activities. The learning experiences that will take place will inspire and motivate my students to want to learn more about science and math. My English Language Learners will also be able to use the skills they are learning with me, and practice them using the language development cards.
All of these resources will ensure that my students are pushing themselves further toward reaching their reading, writing, and math goals!
