My Students
Teaching in a low-income urban setting, I know that my students are faced with economic challenges both in and out of the classroom. I want my students to have access to as many materials and resources as they possibly can.
My classroom is comprised of 20 boys and girls with minds like sponges, ready to absorb all of the knowledge around them!
My students are positive and creative and never let adversity show. They are our future doctors, scientists, teachers, athletes, and mechanics---the list is endless. I am looking to give my students a giant push toward their futures by being able to give them as much as I possibly can. The future starts here and now!
My Project
Every year my second grade class puts on a Reader's Theater presentation of "Alice in Wonderland!" To really understand the story, my class first reads the story and then spends time learning and applying important literacy objectives. After we read the story, the real fun begins!
The students put in a lot of hard work rehearsing and creating their own props for their presentation of "Alice in Wonderland!"
This year, to really take their presentation to the next level, I am requesting several props to enhance the students' experience. Having costumes specifically made for the roles in the play will really help my students get into character. The castle, cardboard house and rose wall will allow my students to dive into each scene and put their own unique twist on the play.
I have seen first hand the positive impact this presentation has on my students. The students build friendships, confidence and work together to create lasting memories and your donations will help these memories grow even further than you can imagine!
