Help me give my students a hands-on coding experience. Introducing the Cubetto into my kindergarten classroom will allow my students problem solving skills to come alive!
I teach in an inner city school district where a large percentage of of our students live below poverty level. Each year I have students who come in below grade level and I have some who are advanced and several that fall in between. The hardest part of being a teacher is adequately meeting the needs of all of these students and finding what motivates each one and help them to succeed. My students want to do their best and always rise to the expectations I set for them. They are amazing kids, who want to set goals for themselves and attain those goals through hard work and dedication. I have found that learning through technology not only engages my students but prepares them to be 21st century learners.
My Project
My Kindergarten class has been leaning about algorithms and other components of the Computer Science standards from an unplugged perspective.
Now it's time for their algorithms to come alive!
And what better way then with Cubetto! The Cubetto will allow my students to not ony create algorithms, but it lights the way giving them a front row seat to bugs in their algorithms. I know that intergrating Computer Science lessons into my daily curiculumm has increaded my students problem solving skills, their motivation, their creativity, and their persistence to work. Using Cubettos to learn how to add and subtract, to read cvc words, and to practice sight words are just a few ways these robots will enrich our curriculum.
