Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have always been a firm believer of the quote "It takes a village to raise a child." And being a classroom teacher I am constantly trying to provide my learners with the most beneficial, equitable education experience as I set the groundwork of their future. These little learner are relying on the aid of a school community to guide them to achieve their full potential and I have been blessed to have the privilege to be their conductor for this ride! This is my Job! And I wouldn't want to do anything else!

I have been so fortunate to be a second grade English New Language Learner teacher of such diverse, caring and dedicated learners!

ENL students have the challenge of not only acquiring the English language but meeting grade level standards and having an understanding of all academic areas. Many of my students come from many different countries and I am trying to make a socio-emotional friendly environment. In achieving this goal I would like to incorporate dry erase easels and an Echo Dot to provide on the spot knowledge to build their knowledge on various subjects.

My Project

Being a teacher of ENL learners, my classroom population includes Mexican, Bengali, Arabic, Vietnamese, Dominican, Ecuadorian, and many others! In addition to teaching to the curriculum (and language proficiency), it is my job to give them an understanding of cultural appreciation and a respect of diversity.

Having the double-sided dry-erase boards will help my students learn in collaborate grouping so they can have the opportunity to work together to share the knowledge regarding diversity and multi-cultures.

They will all dive into learning about each others cultures using various resources in groups to have a better respect and appreciation for each other and their culture.

The Amazon Dot will help my students because they are very inquisitive learners and they are always asking me different questions on various topics. The dot will be able to give them a response on the spot when I do not have time to answer one of their valuable questions. The dot will also serve as a speaker for our mindful minute meditation music and a reminder to schedule.
