My students need to attend cheer camp this summer! They will learn safety procedures for stunting, attend leadership workshops, and create a yearly plan to improve school climate.
My student-athletes are hardworking, competitive, caring individuals. They value the legacy of their team and the traditions that have been passed down from years before.
Cheer is now recognized as a sport, so this year they are competing at a higher level than ever before.
They are tired, sore, and motivated. Even with a busy practice schedule, they continue to spend time focusing on what is important in our community, supporting students and each other.
Each athlete on this team is unique, when they come together they can make anything happen. I have watched them pick each other up and support each other every day. The bond they have is special.
My Project
Cheer camp is a great way for our team to bond. The athletes will engage in meaningful conversations about their leadership roles on campus, and the ways they can improve school climate. They will also learn skills necessary to be a competitive squad.
This year AHS is participating in competitive sport cheer and our hope is to compete at a level that will give our athletes opportunities for scholarships in college.
Cheer camp also gives unique opportunities to our athletes. They will have the chance to tryout for the All American Cheer Team, three of our athletes made the squad last year! They traveled to London to participate in the New Years Day Parade! Additionally, senior athletes can apply for job positions with UCA, and attend college recruiting sessions.
Cheer camp is more than a fun experience for the athletes. Camp staff facilitates and encourages the athletes to improve themselves as athletes and members of society through the sport they love.
